Vmware Cloud Director &Microsoft Failover Cluster & Named Disks

To setting up Microsoft Failover Cluster there are some specifics requirements. (in our case related to SQL)
First of all allow all cluster nodes must access shared disk sending iSCSI commands.

To allow this configuration on Vmware Cloud Director it is necessary to create Named Disk.

ProxMox - Ambiente di virtualizzazione HA senza San

E' stata rilasciata da pochi giorni la versione 2.1 di ProxMox.

Questa si tratta di un ambiente di virtualizzazione stile Vmware ed Hyper-V che sfrutta come base una distribuzione Linux customizzata.

Tale distribuzione da il meglio di se con due server con 2/3 schede di rete, di cui una cross tra i vari server.

Siccome ProxMox sfrutta LVM per la partizioni dove sono ospitate le macchine virtuali, questo permette di avere una soluzione di virtualizzazione High Avaibility o Cluster senza dover avere una SAN.

Insomma, una soluzione veramente all'avanguardia.

Mi riservo di fare altri post in merito per maggiori dettagli e test sul campo.

LVM non fa mirror, ma semplicemente non è altro che un gestore logico di volumi.

In realtà per sincronizzare lo storage si deve utilizzare un demone che si chiama DRBD.

Linux - HA-Cluster di DC con Samba e LDAP - Parte 3

Installazione di LDAP

Adesso possiamo installare l’ultima versione di ldap (copiandola), da notare che è sempre buona norma disinstallare la vecchia versione e subito dopo installare la nuova:


Step 1
Estrarre i file in /programs/openldap/release

tar zxvf openldap-2.3.33.tgz

cd openldap-2.3.33

Step 2

Compiliamo il tutto

./configure --prefix=/usr/local --enable-slapd --enable-syslog --with-cyrus-sasl=yes --enable-dynamic --enable-rewrite --disable-ipv6 --disable-shell --disable-sql --with-threads --enable-modules --enable-backends=mod --enable-overlays=mod --with-tls --enable-wrapper

Se vi sono errori di dipendenze vanno risolti

Se invece appare l’errore seguente:

configure: error: could not locate libtool ltdl.h

Potrebbe essere necessario eseguire la seguente procedura:

[root@node1 openldap-2.3.33]# cd /usr/share/libtool/libltdl
[root@node1 libltdl]# ./configure

Linux - HA-Cluster di DC con Samba e LDAP - Parte 1

Si tratta di una soluzione che permette di settare una soluzione "Fault Tolerance" del seguente tipo:

- Primary Domain Controller
- Backup Domain Controller

Un controller di dominio master, che fornisce l'autenticazione attraverso l'uso di LDAP

Un controller di dominio slave che può bilanciare il carico delle richieste di accesso client che forniscono anche la ridondanza attraverso l'uso di un database di replica LDAP.
